So I've been absolutely horrible at posting on this thing, and that makes me super sad! So I'm going to try to do better. :D I've been sitting here staring at my computer screen trying to find something to post about in my very boring life...and I've resorted to one of my favorite things in the entire world. And that would be MUSIC! I'm going to try to start to start reviewing songs and bands and help you all hopefully experience new music. Who knows, you may love it and get hooked on it, but then again you may not. All that I ask is you keep an open mind and don't judge the band on their looks or their band name. Some of the "scariest" bands are also some of the most accepting people in the world since they know what it's like to be judged. This is a no judging blog and love and accept everyone!
Before we get to the song of the day/night ( whichever you want) let's take a look at my not-so-exciting life, shall we?
Well the most exciting thing that I want to share with everyone is....I FINALLY got my nose pierced!!! See..
I have been wanting to get this since I was 17, and 3 years later I finally have! Yay! I know there are a lot of people out there that do not like piercings, but I happen to love them! :D
Other than that exciting bit, I've just been working. I was working 60 hours a week, on nights, making yummy Blue Bunny Ice Cream so you all can enjoy it, now you can see why I haven't updated in a while. Talk about exhausting!
Now here it is, what you all have been waiting for, the song of the night!
King for a day by Pierce the Veil ft. Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens
The fabulous Music Video
The Lyrics video in case anyone prefers them.
This song is one of my favorite by Pierce the Veil, and I'm a huge fan of Sleeping with Sirens, so it's the best of both worlds! In case any of you aren't familiar with Pierce the Veil, it's these great guys right here ----->
From left to right, there's Tony, Jaime, Vic, and Mike
This is a little hard to understand at some parts. Go Google the lyrics or watch the lyric video if you want to read them. This song isn't what most people listen to, it's more rock then pop, it's definitely not something you hear on the radio. But amazing non-the-less.
We all have those times in our life where we are sick of everything. Sick of people walking all over you, or trying to. Sick of not being appreciated. Sick of getting cast aside. Sick of being a nobody at times. Sometimes just sick of everything in general. That is what this song is about. Having enough of all of these things and finally making a stand for yourself. Standing up and looking those haters and bullies and anyone else and saying that you've had enough. That you're tired of being pushed around and you aren't going to take it anymore. This song is an anthem to everyone who's been bullied, picked on, been pushed around by the "populars" or a mean boss, been made to feel like you're worthless, anything. It's time to be done with that. It's time to stand up and say I'm done! I'm not going to take this anymore!
The world is a horrible, cruel place, where people get pleasure in making others feel like crap, that cause other unnecessary pain, who make them feel worthless and unimportant. Where it's bad to be different. This song and bands like Pierce the Veil help people realize that it's okay to be different. It's okay to like what you like, it's okay to dress how you want, it's okay to have huge dreams, it's all okay.
As someone who hasn't always fit in, I love bands and songs like this. I've been picked on and bullied, made to feel insecure about myself. In high school I got along with everyone, I was friends with everyone, I was on my school's dance team, I was a cheerleader, but I've always been just a little different than everyone else around me. Whether it was the music I listened to or dying my hair crazy colors. For a long time I hid the person I am today because so many people in my life thought that the things I like were bad. That being a little different was okay, but really different was bad. And through listening to bands like Pierce the Veil, they've helped me realize that it doesn't matter. That I can be the person that I want to be. That I can have my nose pierced and crazy colored hair if I want to, that I'm still a good person on the inside with it. That I can dream as big as I want to and can achieve those dreams. There's going to be a billion obstacles and things in my way, and people who are going to try to stop me and push me down, but that I can overcome it all. As long as you are who you want to be, and are happy with it, then that's all that matters.
One of my favorite quotes puts it perfectly:
"You laugh at me because I am different, I laugh at you because you are all the same"
- Jonathan Davis
