Wow how time has flown by. Summer's practically over already and it's only 6 months until I run the RunDisney Disney's Princess Half Marathon. Me and my amazing cousin, Chelsea, are officially signed up! We decided on being Team Yo-Ho Squared. Trip planning has begun, which just makes me even more excited!! I have a feeling these next 6 months are just going to fly by.
I have working, (or at least trying to), very hard training. I'm still not the world's best runner, and probably never will be. BUT I can run about a mile without stopping. Which compared to when I started is amazing progress! Or at least I think it is, and that's what counts right? My whole family has been great support while I "torture" myself. My mom and little sister have been eating healthy and even working out with me. I'm so happy that they've decided to join me in this fitness, healthy journey. I know only good things are going to come out of it. It's really amazing how many things I'm capable of doing and how great I feel from working out and getting exercise.
Besides training and saving for my fabulous trip, there's been plenty of other things happening in my life. This summer I spent about 2 months in Wausau, Wisconsin at my grandparents house with my little sister, Mikayla. That was a lot of fun. It's something we haven't done since we were little. We absolutely loved remembering and thinking about all of the fun things we did there. We took plenty of trips to the places we visited and played when we were little. Like climbing on the rocks on Rib Mountain, swimming in rivers and dells, playing in the forest and trees, riding our bikes to the school and playground that's close(ish) to their house. Many, many memories. We also got to see a lot of family members that we haven't seen in a very long, from going to birthday parties, graduation parties, and celebrating the fourth of July it was a lot of fun.
Not many things have happened since I have come back home to Iowa. I'm trying to go back to school to finish my degree, which I will be very happy about when that happens. The only other exciting thing that I'm doing is dying my hair!! Woooo!! And getting a haircut, BUT I'm not telling you how I'm dying it...I guess you're all going to have to wait for the next post on here with the pictures :)
In case any of you wanted to see, here are some pictures of some of my adventures from this summer :) Enjoy!
Me, My Auntie Glenda, and my little sister Mikayla
Mustaches!!!
Apparently little kids like me. I had Four of them hanging on my, AT ONCE!
I hope all of you had a wonderful summer and continue to have a wonderful year.
Hey everybody! So obviously the whole updating-more-often thing has not really been going super well. But I guess that's just something to constantly be working on then.
Many things have been happening since last I posted on here. I am currently packing up my things and cleaning up my room to move to Wisconsin with my Grandparents. Woohoo! Me and my adorable little sister will be spending the WHOLE summer with my amazing Grandparents. Talk a bout a super fun time!
Me and my beautiful little sister, Mikayla
Earlier this week I had a small moment insanity, and it resulted in me participating in a half marathon. I am officially going to be participating in the runDisney's Disney Princess Half Marathon! It's February 22nd-24th, which means I have 8 months to train hard and get my butt in gear. The marathon is 13.1 miles long and will last about 3 1/2 hours long. You participate in this race you have to be able to run 16 minutes/mile, which I think is definitely do-able. This race is more for fun rather than a super serious, which is very good for beginners. The best part is that this race takes place in the happiest place on earth....Disney World!!! AND for this race I get to dress up in a costume! :) Another great thing is, while you are running this fabulous race there are Disney characters along the course of the marathon and can stop and get pictures with them!
There's so many people that do these races and it's a very special thing to be apart of. I'm very excited to do this. Never in my life did I think I would be running a half marathon, but I am, and cannot wait for the event to be here. I know the next 8 months are going to be hard and a sweat filled struggle...but I know it will definitely be worth it.
I've really been attempting to get healthy, more fit and in shape, and exercise more, but have sadly failed. This is just the thing to help me do that! Luckily I am not doing this alone. My little sister, Mikayla, is thinking about running it with me. Even if she doesn't actually do the half marathon, she's still going to train with me this summer, which is a huge help to me. My fabulous cousin, Chelsea, is planning on doing it with me. She's wanted to do it for a while now. We are both extremely excited to be doing it together and are going to be able to train together a bit when we see each other in a few weeks.
Other than those couple of things, not a ton of things have been going on in my life. Life is good, life is great! I'm happy and healthy and am ready to get into shape!!
Below are some pictures from the great Disney race I'll be in. If any of you who read this want to know any information on the race or other Disney races, don't be afraid to ask me or you can Google runDisney and find the information of their website.
Hey everyone,
So I've been absolutely horrible at posting on this thing, and that makes me super sad! So I'm going to try to do better. :D I've been sitting here staring at my computer screen trying to find something to post about in my very boring life...and I've resorted to one of my favorite things in the entire world. And that would be MUSIC! I'm going to try to start to start reviewing songs and bands and help you all hopefully experience new music. Who knows, you may love it and get hooked on it, but then again you may not. All that I ask is you keep an open mind and don't judge the band on their looks or their band name. Some of the "scariest" bands are also some of the most accepting people in the world since they know what it's like to be judged. This is a no judging blog and love and accept everyone!
Before we get to the song of the day/night ( whichever you want) let's take a look at my not-so-exciting life, shall we?
Well the most exciting thing that I want to share with everyone is....I FINALLY got my nose pierced!!! See..
I have been wanting to get this since I was 17, and 3 years later I finally have! Yay! I know there are a lot of people out there that do not like piercings, but I happen to love them! :D
Other than that exciting bit, I've just been working. I was working 60 hours a week, on nights, making yummy Blue Bunny Ice Cream so you all can enjoy it, now you can see why I haven't updated in a while. Talk about exhausting!
Now here it is, what you all have been waiting for, the song of the night!
King for a day by Pierce the Veil ft. Kellin Quinn of Sleeping with Sirens
The fabulous Music Video
The Lyrics video in case anyone prefers them.
This song is one of my favorite by Pierce the Veil, and I'm a huge fan of Sleeping with Sirens, so it's the best of both worlds! In case any of you aren't familiar with Pierce the Veil, it's these great guys right here ----->
From left to right, there's Tony, Jaime, Vic, and Mike
This is a little hard to understand at some parts. Go Google the lyrics or watch the lyric video if you want to read them. This song isn't what most people listen to, it's more rock then pop, it's definitely not something you hear on the radio. But amazing non-the-less.
We all have those times in our life where we are sick of everything. Sick of people walking all over you, or trying to. Sick of not being appreciated. Sick of getting cast aside. Sick of being a nobody at times. Sometimes just sick of everything in general. That is what this song is about. Having enough of all of these things and finally making a stand for yourself. Standing up and looking those haters and bullies and anyone else and saying that you've had enough. That you're tired of being pushed around and you aren't going to take it anymore. This song is an anthem to everyone who's been bullied, picked on, been pushed around by the "populars" or a mean boss, been made to feel like you're worthless, anything. It's time to be done with that. It's time to stand up and say I'm done! I'm not going to take this anymore!
The world is a horrible, cruel place, where people get pleasure in making others feel like crap, that cause other unnecessary pain, who make them feel worthless and unimportant. Where it's bad to be different. This song and bands like Pierce the Veil help people realize that it's okay to be different. It's okay to like what you like, it's okay to dress how you want, it's okay to have huge dreams, it's all okay.
As someone who hasn't always fit in, I love bands and songs like this. I've been picked on and bullied, made to feel insecure about myself. In high school I got along with everyone, I was friends with everyone, I was on my school's dance team, I was a cheerleader, but I've always been just a little different than everyone else around me. Whether it was the music I listened to or dying my hair crazy colors. For a long time I hid the person I am today because so many people in my life thought that the things I like were bad. That being a little different was okay, but really different was bad. And through listening to bands like Pierce the Veil, they've helped me realize that it doesn't matter. That I can be the person that I want to be. That I can have my nose pierced and crazy colored hair if I want to, that I'm still a good person on the inside with it. That I can dream as big as I want to and can achieve those dreams. There's going to be a billion obstacles and things in my way, and people who are going to try to stop me and push me down, but that I can overcome it all. As long as you are who you want to be, and are happy with it, then that's all that matters.
One of my favorite quotes puts it perfectly:
"You laugh at me because I am different, I laugh at you because you are all the same"
I'm sure most of you have heard about the 16 year old girl Madison Wallace, that jumped into the Sioux Falls River to save her brother when he fell in. When she jumped in another man did also, Lyle Eagletail. The two of them saved the brother but sadly did not make it themselves. I personally knew Madison and can say that she was a truly amazing person. I learned many life lessons from, including putting others first like she did so many times. She had one of the purest spirits possible. She will forever be loved and missed. I am so grateful for Lyle Eagletail. Jumping in to help strangers and help save her brother, even though he risked his own life. Prayers are going out to both of their families, and I'm never to forget either of them. I think we can all learn a lesson of bravery and putting others first from them and this incident.
This is a picture of Madison. She was a very beautiful and special girl.
Now I am not one person to promote things, unless they need to be or I really believe in them. But here is a link to the Madison Family Fund http://madisonwallacefund.com/. Madison had 5 siblings and a Father who is unemployed. They need every bit of help that they can get. Whether is just sending prayers or putting money in the fund. Every little bit helps. You can go to Wells Fargo and ask them to put money in the account. The website tells you all that you need to know about how to give money to the family.
There is also a Facebook page you can go like and will get updates and other things about Madison. There's pictures, links to videos by her, links to news stories, and a lot of support for everyone. Whether you personally knew her or not. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Madison-Wallace-Family-Fund/151106521720919
There is another Facebook page that you might want to check out. https://www.facebook.com/LyleEagleTailandMadisonWallaceMemorialFallsPark. It's the Rename Falls Park: Lyle Eagletail and Madison Wallace Memorial Falls Park page. Someone started in trying to get the park renamed. I personally think it would be an amazing thing to do. But go check it out, give it a like, and spread the word if you would like.
Today I was going to post about getting in shape, or school, or something else that is going on in my life. As I thought about it I realized that this is a much more important thing to post about. These two people are examples to all of us. I think we should take their heroic acts and apply it to our own lives. I'm not saying go jump into a freezing river like they did, but we should all look out for each other, help each other, cheer each other up when we're down, do service for each other, anything. I think this world and society is starting to teach kids to think about themselves and only themselves a little bit too much. It would be a much happier world if we were all nice and helped each other. Madison taught me that. We will be happier and get more blessings if we help others more than ourselves. Always take care of yourself, but don't be selfish. If Lyle and Madison were selfish, her brother wouldn't have made it.
If any of you have any questions about Madison, what happened, or where to send support I will gladly answer them.
I just turned 20 in February. I'm currently studying to become a Music Producer, which is my dream job. I hope to be able to travel all over the world finding new music and experience all the world has to give.
I love Disney. Always have and always will. I love the magic, the hope, the inspiration, everything that is involved in it. I love how you can act like you're still a little kid and it's totally acceptable. I always loved watching the movies when I was little, and continue to enjoy the old and new movies to this day. Walt Disney is definitely a major role model and inspiration in my life. Disney will forever be real. You are never too old to enjoy it.
I also love Harry Potter. I'm a HUGE Potterhead. I have slippers, all of the movies and books, a wand, know tons of trivia and facts, I even have a Weasley Sweater!! I am a proud Gryffindor! Harry Potter was the first book series I ever really got into. I think J.K. Rowling is an amazing women and author. She has taught me never to give up and to work hard to achieve and conquer my dreams. After all, she never gave up on Harry Potter after being rejected by publishers time after time did she?
I love anything Union Jack...and anything that involves England. That is the #1 place I want to live at some point in my life. I find it beautiful and just simply amazing. They have so many amazing people, actors, actresses, musicians....everything!
Which brings me to my next point. Music. I love music. Music = Life. I listen to music all of the time, whenever possible. I know a lot of amazing artists. Some well known, some not, some from here in the US, some from other countries. Music has helped me through life. Life is hard, we all know it. So whether I need a song to choreograph a dance to or to make me happier, to calm me down or to help me keep pushing through, music is always there, even when people can't be. Music is universal. It's a language everyone understands, even if you don't understand the words, you can feel it in your heart, Just like not all songs have words. If we can't bond with words we will ALWAYS be able to bond with music.
So what's with the name? LOVE, LIFE, MUSIC AND MOVIES.
Well we are all trying to make it through LIFE. Through the ups and the downs. Each day we wake up and take a breath is another day conquered. LOVE. We all have love in our life...well hopefully. Whether it's our family, friends, or a significant other. MUSIC. As I said before Music=Life. We all have a favorite song or a favorite band we love to listen to, full blast in the car, on our ipods, dancing around to it with our friends. It's what helps us through our days. MOVIES. I absolutely love movies. Old ones, new ones, black and white, colored, Disney, or anything else. They can make you happy, sad, take you to another universe, anything. Much like Music, movies can also help you through your days.
Well this is the conclusion of my first post. Sorry it's so long. Feel free to skim through or read it all, whatever works for you. Now you know a little bit about Me and why I named this blog what I did :)
